Chief Executive Officer retires
Alan Davies, Chief Executive Officer of Fareham Borough Council, has announced today that he will retire from his post on 31 March 2009.Mr Davies joined Fareham Borough Council in October 1992 from Southampton City Council where he was Director of Technical Services.
On announcing his retirement, he commented: "Obviously, I will have mixed emotions on retiring from Fareham Borough Council after sixteen years. I have been fortunate to work with an outstanding group of councillors and colleagues which has made my work very fulfilling."
Executive Leader of Fareham Borough Council, Conservative Councillor Se¡n Woodward, said: "Alan has worked tirelessly to help steer Fareham in the right direction and has contributed much to helping develop this Borough in a way that has benefited so many people.
"He leaves the authority in a very strong position with a group of committed and professional staff and although he will be extremely difficult to replace, I am confident that we will attract a strong field of candidates to continue the excellent work Alan has done. I am sure that I speak for all Fareham Councillors when I say that we are extremely grateful for all that he has done and he will be very much missed."
A panel to appoint a new Chief Executive Officer will be discussed at the next full meeting of the Council on Thursday 16 October 2008.
