CATs funding for local projects

Fareham Community Action Team has awarded funding to the following projects:

  • Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust have secured 4,526.50 from the Neighbourhood Initiative Fund to create 230 metres of new paths as part of the Swanwick Lakes Access Project.
  • Portsmouth Housing Association and Hampshire County Council Youth Team have secured 6,053 from the Neighbourhood Initiative Fund to support the Broadlaw Walk Local Community Mural Hoardings Project. The project aims to minimise graffiti and vandalism in the area by working with the local community to create a mural on the hoardings around the shopping centre.
  • St Edmunds Crofton Old Church secured 7,475 from the Neighbourhood Initiative Fund for the historic conservation and restoration of six Edwardian and Victorian monuments and tombstones in the old burial grounds.

  • Hampshire County Council Children's Services, Fareham Youth Team have secured 1000 to support the Genesis Youth Centre. The funding will support the work of children aged 10 - 11 in producing an anti-bullying booklet, designed to be used as a resource tool in local schools for both teachers and young people.

Conservative Councillor Trevor Cartwright, Executive Member for Service Performance a Improvement, said of the CATs project; "Community Action Teams were set up to enable us to work more closely with our residents. These projects help provide a sense of community and develop facilities in the region."
