I was born in Portsmouth and settled in Fareham in 1950s, educated at St John's College, Southsea. Following my Apprentiship at RNAD Fleetlands I worked as a draftsman and moved to Bath for 3 years before returning to ASWE Portsdown working in Project Management. I have lived in Fareham since 1969; first in Kiln Road and now in Highlands Road. I am married with a grown up family and two grandchildren all living locally.
I am also a Borough Councillor and I find the two roles complement one another. My main aim as a Councillor is to serve the people of Fareham who elected me and to ensure that they are getting value for money from the services supplied by the Councils. I do my best for my area and call on as many residents as I can during the year. If I have not spoken to you why not ring me?
2004 was a particularly important year for me and Fareham as I was invited by my fellow councillors to be Chairman of the County Council, the first Councillor from Fareham to be so honoured. In 2006 I was honoured by my fellow councillors in Fareham who elected me to the privileged position of Mayor of Fareham.
I am concerned about the overcrowding of our local roads, the off street parking provisions for Town Centre residents and the lack of firm government assurances for improved infrastructure throughout the Borough particularly with the planned North of Fareham development.
I am a keen sportsman although reduced to watching rather than taking part. I rowed at senior level and played both football and cricket for local Fareham teams and rugby with Gosport and Fareham Rugby Club. Keen gardener and DIY when time allows.
