Retired. Married with 4 children and 2 grandchildren. Born Portsmouth. Educated Portsmouth, Liverpool and Southampton (PhD). C.Chem., FRSC. Career: Biochemical Technician at St. Mary’s Hospital Portsmouth; Civil Service and Atomic Energy Authority (Windscale & Dounreay); a variety of Higher Education teaching posts mainly in London-from lecturer to Head of Faculty (Science, Technology and Medical) at Garnett College of the London University Institute of Education, training teachers for Further/Higher Education and for professions supplementary to medicine. My last 10 years was as a Human Resource Development Advisor International Bank for Reconstruction & Development (World Bank), Washington DC. Where I advised the following countries: Egypt; Pakistan; Philippines; Bangladesh; Turkey: Yemen; Portugal; Poland; and Hungary. Consultant to TETOC (ODA); British Council; ILO Geneva; Asian Development Bank; and private companies. Recently acted as a peer reviewer for IDeA. I have served as a member of education committees of: The Royal Society; Royal Society of Chemistry (Chairman); Technician Education Council and the City & Guilds Institute. Member of Council Royal Society of Chemistry; Chemical & Allied Products Industrial Training Board; and the Council for Professions Supplementary to Medicine. Formerly Chairman of the Standing Advisory Committee of the Inner London Education Authority and of the London Division of NATFHE and of Conference Steering Committee. At HCC I am interested in the work of the committees as below which provide services for our population and in their delivery in an efficient and cost-effective way. |
