Borough Councillor for Sarisbury ward
Elected in 2016 as one of two local Councillors in the Sarisbury Ward of Fareham Borough Council. The ward includes Burridge, Sarisbury, Swanwick and the part of Whiteley that is within the Fareham Borough.
Jon came to the area to study Computer Science at Portsmouth in 1986 and has lived and worked locally since then.
Moving to Whiteley in 1995 Jon and his wife Deb raised their family there, with children attending Sarisbury Schools and Colleges further afield.
Interests and hobbies include walking, cycling, flying and travelling. Jon was invited to consider becoming a local councillor having been actively and successfully engaged in community groups / local issues for a number of years - most notably leading Lee Flying Association’s initiatives which reversed decisions to close the then Lee-on-Solent Airfield (Daedalus) to General Aviation use in 2007 and 2008.
Jon continues to enjoy his career in the software industry, spanning software engineering, architecture, organisational management and project, while gaining experience as a local representative for all residents of Sarisbury Ward regarding local or private concerns within the scope of the Borough Council’s many services and functions.
Formal appointments include:
-Chairman, Audit and Governance Committee.
-Member of StreetScene and Development Policy Panels.
- FBC representative on a number of community organisations/fora including the North Whiteley Development Forum run by Winchester City Council.
