Councillor Sarah Pankhurst

Borough Councillor for Titchfield Common ward

I moved to Fareham from Kent in 2007 and immediately fell in love with the area - a safe, beautiful, friendly and welcoming place to live and I feel very privileged to have been elected to serve the Ward of Titchfield Common back in 2012.

I have three boys who keep me very busy and who attend local schools within the Western Wards and my oldest son started in College recently to study A Levels.  I also work shift work within the NHS and can say I am proud to be working within the best Health Service in the World.  Shift work can be difficult but I relish in challenges and many of my residents will have seen that I send emails at all times of the day including very early hours of the morning after a late shift.

I am just finishing my first term as an elected Councillor of Fareham Borough Council and have learnt so much during this time with the support of my fellow Borough and County Councillors together with Fareham Borough Council Officers.  Currently I am Vice Chairman of the Leisure & Community Committee and also sit on the Licensing & Regulatory Affairs Committee, Public Protection Committee and Scrutiny Board.  I also represent Fareham Borough Council at the Abshot Community Centre and am co-opted on the Committee of the Locks Heath Sports and Social Club.  I also represent Fareham Borough Council at Relate.

I have been successful in guiding a local Residents' Association to produce a Deputation and to attend at the Leisure & Community Committee in order to campaign for an upgrade to their local Play Area in Course Farm Crescent and have supported Upgrades at Birchen Road and Abshot Road Play Areas.  I am also working with residents in Robins Meadow to get their Play Area painted and refreshed.

I campaigned and was successful in obtaining a £200,000 grant to facilitate a new roof and internal upgrade to the Abshot Community Centre and work is due to begin in April 2016.

I am currently working hard with residents of Tanner's Gate to solve a lengthy flooding and drainage issue - liaising with County Councillor Geoff Hockley and Hampshire County Council Officers to finally resolve these problems so that the new development roads can finally be adopted.

I can be seen every quarter out in my Ward delivering the "In Touch" leaflets with my twin boys and if you feel you would like to help, please contact me or please say "hello".

I believe in communities and admire the committees I have worked with for their dedication and hard work to achieve the best for the local residents.  I believe the young through to the more mature of my residents in Titchfield Common should have access to the right to have their voices heard and I believe that in these last 4 years, I have achieved this goal.
