I am married with a grown-up family and have lived in Warsash for twenty-six years. I was employed as Human Resources Director with a large local company and was awarded the MBE for services to the Defence Industry in 1996. In retirement, I am a Director of the Education Business Partnership South.
I was elected to the Council in 2000, and my main aim as a Councillor is to serve the people of Warsash who elected me and to ensure that they are getting value for money from the services supplied by the Council. I am particularly interested in keeping tight control on housing development in Warsash within the confines of the Planning Policy. Also, as Chairman of the Community Safety Partnership, I am working with the police to combat vandalism and anti-social behaviour.
Currently, I am Deputy Leader of the Council, Executive Member for Public Protection, Deputy Chairman of Licence and Regulatory Affairs Committee and member of the Planning Committee. I am a member of the Hampshire Police Crime Panel and also a member of the River Hamble Management Committee.
In 2011/12, I had the honour of being the Mayor of Fareham, which gave me the opportunity to meet the many organisations within our Borough, in particular, the many volunteers who provide a vital contribution to the community. I also raised funds for my three chosen charities - the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, Toe in the Water and Warsash Wasps Sports and Football Club.
I am a keen yachtsman and enjoy cycling and bird watching with a great interest in conservation, especially in the Warsash and River Hamble areas. I am a member of the Management Committee of the Warsash Sea Cadets (TS Tormentor), the Warsash Sailing Club, the RNLI and the RSPB.
